Simple Present Tense

A. Pengertian Simple Present Tense

   Jika dilihat dari asal bentuk katanya, simple berarti sederhana dan present berarti sekarang.

   Jadi, dalam pengertiannya simple present tense merupakan kalimat yang menjelaskan sesuatu atau peristiwa yang sedang terjadi sekarang dengan pola kalimat yang sederhana.

   Simple present tense sendiri ternyata punya 2 jenis, yaitu nominal simple present dan verbal simple present.

B. Rumus + Contoh Simple Present Tense

1. Nominal Simple Present ~> Menggunakan to be (am/is/are) dan predikat

   (+) Subject + to be (am/is/are) + adjective/adverb
   (-) Subject + to be (am/is/are) + not + adjective/adverb
   (?) To be (am/is/are) + subject + adjective/adverb?

Example:
(+) He is very patience
(-) He is not/isn’t very patience
(?) Is he patience?

2. Verbal Simple Present~> Menggunakan V1 atau verb-1.

   (+) Subject + verb 1 (+ s/es) + object
   (-) Subject + do/does not + verb 1 + object
   (?) Do/does + subject + verb 1 + object?

Example:
(+) She goes to school
(-) She doesn’t go to school
(?) Does she go to school?

     >>> Bentuk spelling kata kerja pada orang ketiga (She, He, It), tergantung dari akhiran kata kerja (verb) tersebut.

¤ Untuk kata kerja yang berakhiran -O, -CH, -SH, -X, atau -Z, tambahkan-ES.
   > go – goes
   > catch – catches
   > wash – washes
   > kiss – kisses
   > box – boxes
   > fix – fixes

¤ Untuk kata kerja (Verb) yang berakhiran konsonan + Y, hilangkan Y, dan tambahkan -IES.
   > carry – carries
   > study – studies
   > worry – worries
   > marry – marries

¤ Sedangkan, untuk kata kerja yang berakhiran vokal + Y, cukup tambahkan -S.

   > play – plays
   > say – says
   > enjoy – enjoys
